Description
Gladys Fieldhouse , Barbara Kell-Rose, Michelle Rich, Bonnie West holding pumpkins with glowing "WI" noses.

We are standing in front of the corn fields on the Kell-Rose farm on County Road 89, Gilford, Simcoe County, Ontario. We met on a chilly October 17, 2022. The pumpkins are various sizes from small to medium-large but all have the same characteristic "WI" nose. 2 pumpkins were carved with the tops removed and seeds scooped out, and the 2 largest pumpkins were carved with the bottom removed and scooped. The bottom removal was deemed the best and quickest method.

See below for more information.

October is the month of harvest, of giving thanks, the month to enjoy the fruits of one’s labour, the month to prepare our gardens and fields for the winter months ahead. It is a busy month but one to celebrate!

Our Wish Team gathered with pumpkins in hand and enjoyed an afternoon of creativity, sociability, and thanksgiving! There have been crops harvested, grandbabies born and busy lives to chat about since our last gathering in August.

Our theme with our pumpkin faces was including the WI initials in our carving. We each carved our pumpkin with speed and dexterity. After a break for refreshments, we went outside to use Nature’s chilly palette as our backdrop. Our costumes were authentic...that of Canadian farmers and Grandmothers!!

Happy Hallowe’en Everyone and a continued Safe Harvest!
