The Cathcart Canny Grannies gathered together to search an old barn foundation for rocks to paint and to discuss a unifying theme for our project. After discussion the theme "Friendship" was chosen. Each member chose a different saying about friendship that would be depicted on their individual rock.
Marian Austin; I chose the phrase, " In the cookie of life, friends are the chocolate chips".
I am gifting my painted rock to my daughter, my friend. She is my inspiration and my best friend. I am so proud of how she lives her life. She is an amazing daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She lives her life with energy, determination and integrity. Like chocolate, she adds flavour and sweetness to my life.
Debbie Burrill; I chose the phrase, "Good friends are the foundation of our lives."
I am truly blessed to have many wonderful friends. I love them all, dearly.
Today, with this project, I want to honour one in particular.
Elaine and I met when I moved into town. As each of us has faced some of life's joys and hurdles, our friendship has grown.
Recently Elaine has been my surgery coach and driver.
I don't know what I would do without her as she has truly supported me. In both an emotional and a physical way, she has been my "Rock".
Audrey Hall; I chose the phrase, " Good friends are like stars, you don't always see them, but you know they are there"
I have a woman whom I met through work who has become a dear friend. We have shared our troubles and our triumphs. I do not have the opportunity to see her often but we value our time together. We are lucky to be able to slip back into our friendship when we do meet.
Ellan Riddle; I chose the phrase, "The distance is short to a friend's house."
My rock creation will go to my friend, Charlotte. Over the years we have drifted apart. Before our local Tansley W.I. closed, Charlotte and I were active in our branch. We saw each other at our monthly meetings and worked on projects in between. Then she moved away and our lives changed. She was busy with family then grandchildren and getting acquainted with her new neighbourhood. I was busy caring for family, elders and our herd of beef cattle. Occasional phone calls and brief visits became less frequent and during Covid, failed altogether. That was my fault. I'm hoping we can reconnect and catch up on our respective lives. Friendship is Precious and should be nurtured. I hope his gift will be a irst step to that end.
