Once upon a time in the tiny Village of Wish, the ladies of the local Women's Institute had gathered outside their W.I. hall to plan the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the formation of the Federated Women's institutes of Ontario.

As they conversed, they couldn't help but mention the many results of lobbying done by Women's Institutes. This made them very proud to be part of such an active organization whose focus was the betterment of the community. Some of the members mentioned clear markings on poison containers, implementation of easy to understand food labels, enforcement of handicapped parking and scholarships and bursaries, to name a few.

While they were talking, they noticed the local school bus, stopped with lights flashing to let the children exit safely, and over on the other side of town they could hear a train approaching, but knew people would be warned by the installation of railway crossing signs. They were glad they were members of a group that had helped influence these protective changes as well.
