The first regular meeting for 1972 of the Municipal Council of the Township of East Nissâ€" ouri was held on January 3rd in the Township Office at Kintore with all members of Council present. Minutes of the preâ€" vious meeting were read and approved. The only delegation waiting on Council was Mr. Glen Mcâ€" Dougall regarding a road surâ€" vey for the Township. Correspondence was read and tabled. The St. Marys Journalâ€"Argus, Wed., Jan. 26 Mrs. John Simonsen who has been holidaying at Lake Worth, Florida, has returned to her home. Mrs. Simonsen especialâ€" ly enjoyed the day spent in Disneyland, Florida. W. 1. Entertain Group The Lakesige W. I. celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Fedâ€" erated Women‘s Institute of Onâ€" tario by entertaining two of the neighboring branches in the LO.L Hall, Feb. 2nd. The president Mrs. Jared Vining preâ€" sided and opened the meeting in the usual manner and welcomed the guests. The roll call was answered by 40 members and guests. Mrs. Jas. Kittmer reâ€" ported on the course, "The Knack of Sewing with Knits" and also gave a report on Sumâ€" mary Day. Mrs. Finlay Kittmer presented the leaders, Mrs. Jas. Kittmer and Mrs. Alex Muir with small gifts. Mrs. Don King convenor for the program comâ€" mented on the motto and told how the Institute pin and badge came into being. Mrs. Lloyd Kittmer told. about Institute blue and gold; at one time the Institute colors were purple and gold. Mrs. Alex Muir spoke about the Institute magazine, Home and Country. Mrs. King introduced Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Towle who showed pictures on their trip to Japan and other Asian countries. Evereyone enâ€" joyed the interesting trip by picture. Courtesy remarks were by Mrs, Jas. Morrison. The meeting closed with The Queen. Mrs. James Kittmer was convenor of Canadian Industries program and showed an interâ€" esting demonstration on "Ways of Using Paper to Save Time". Local farmers are battling the elements day by day as they try to complete the harvesting of their â€"corn crops. Strangely enough, the combining often goes better at night, when men should be getting their sleep. It is no wonder that the number of farmers decrease as their proâ€" blems increase. , 1972 11 J 9 7: Lakeside 4H â€" Homemakers Club attended 4â€"H Achievement Day recently at Tavistock. Mrs. Jerry Switzer, Mrs. Don King and Mrs. Ross McCorquodale are the leaders of the club.‘ The Oxford‘ home economist is Miss Nancy Strang. Guild Meeting The April meeting of Christ Church Guild was held in the parish hall. Mrs. Noel Peters presided and Mrs. Robt. Harris was acting secretary. Plans for a supper in the parish hall in June were discussed. Mrs. J. R. Warner and Mrs. Noel Peters are .Christ Church lay delegates to Synod. Mrs. John Seaton, hostess, served refreshments. Members of Christ Church are interested in the organization of an Altar: Guild. Christ Church Sunday School pupils plan to attend the baptismal service on Mother‘s â€" Day. Members of Christ Church Guild are invited to Oxford Deanery dinner in May and also to a dessert lun cheon euchre at Grace Church, Thorndale. The motto, "Don‘t work all your life to make a living, but work to live all your life", was given by Mrs. Mac Gates. Short readâ€" ingsâ€"were given by Mrs. Chas: Holden and Mrs. Jas. Morrison followed by a piano solo by Mrs. Lehman Harris. The. former secretaryâ€"treasurer, Mrs. Chas.
