In 2003 and 2007, Bill Winegard was hired by the Municipality to review and update the plan and library staff were included in this study. As Tweedsmuir Curator for the Castleton Women’s Institute, community history is collected. Many years ago, I asked Cramahe Council for permission to use their photocopier to copy history and scrap books. This was granted and the copies are held in the library to form part of the local history. As of May 2008, this practice was stopped. Copies of historical pictures were colour lasered photocopied and hung on the walls for people to see. Funds for this project were donated. Over the years additions to the local history section were made, including census records. A few years ago, a number of assessment and tax rolls (1862- 1898) were returned to Cramahe Township fronlNorthumberland County. Original birth marriage and death records were found in the safe when staff were packing up to move to Colborne (1893-1929 - not consecutive). Library staff and the public have access to these records for research purposes. Often when the branch was closed people would come to do searches. A few people were from Texas, B.C., Australia, Toronto, Lindsay, etc. A former resident of Cramahe lent journals and scrap books belonging to her ancester, so they could be photostated for our local history. Some of the newspaper clippings go back to 1894. Around 1997, arrangements were made to join the McNaughton Leasing Plan. Titles are ordered and when no longer needed, they are returned to the company. In 2000, the photocopier was purchased. In 2000, the W.I. donated a glider rocking chair and money for books to the library. Two other patrons donated tables and chairs for the children's room over the years.
