He was an Historian and a novelist and author of a number of biographies and Historical Works ' Sir Walter Raleigh; Sir Walter Scott; Julius Caesw; Oliver Cromwell; The Massacre of Glencoe; The King's Grace; etc. Some of his novels were , The 39 Steps; Salute to Adventure; The Three Hostages; etc. "Memory Holds the Door tt was his autobiography and one of his latest works. John Buchan was called to the Bar in 1901, From I927 to 1935 he was a member of British House of Cameras for Scottish Universities. In I935 he was titled " Baron Tweedsmuir." From I935 to 191.0 he was GOVERNOR - GENERAL of Canada. John Buchan, the first Lord Tweedsmuir, died in Montreal on February 11th, I9h0.
