Old Cornell School Now Community Hall

Some hard work by Cornell residents has resulted in turning their old school-house into a very acceptable community hall.

The hall is over 100 years old. It was closed down as a school several years ago, and the Cornell people decided to turn it into a community hall.

They discovered that someone else owned the land, so the building has been moved. In the process, a full basement, and a 20 foot by 30 foot addition were added.

Much of the labour was done by community-minded people, but the renovations still cost an estimated $10-$12 thousand.

[beneath the photo of the hall reads the caption] What once was a schoolhouse is now the Cornell Community Hall. The area residents have moved the building onto publicly-owned property, and renovated it, including the 20 feet by 30 feet addition at the back, and a full basement.
