The Picton Gazette Thursday, February 3. i 994 Milford girl makes television appearance Sunday Local singing sensation. 12- year-old Emily Fennell of Mil» ford. will make her second appearance on television this Sunday. Fennell will be appearing on Homegrown Cafe, a program which showcases amateur talâ€" ent from around the Ottawa Valley and Eastern Ontario. The program is seen weekly on the Ottawa CTV affiliate CJOH. Emily‘s performance of, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, on Sunday's program will be the first of two appearances this month by the young singer. She will also be fea- tured on February 13 singing, Believe in Yourself, from the musical, The Wiz. The young student at Athol Central School has appeared locally in school plays, talent shows and at the Quarter Moon Coffee House. She first appeared on Homegrown Cafe in fall of 1992. Last July Emily travelled to Aylmer Que. near Ottawa to compete in the National Capital Festival of Music. where she won trophies in four categories. Emily has had no formal voice training but is currently studying both piano and saxophone.
