ROY WELLINGTON SlLLS,son of Mr, Mrs. Gilbert Sills. Born 1892. Lot 12 â€" 7th Concession of Thurlow. He was educated at Zion Hill School and attended Albert College for 2% years, He enlisted in 1915 and received his commission on Sept. 7, 1915. In 1916 he went to England while there attended Canadian Military School. He joined the 173 Highlanders and with the léhth British Battalion went to France where he was transferred to the 38th. He was wounded Aug. 8, 1918 at Amiens. He arrived home Dec. 17, 1918. He was transferred to the reserve of officers Jan. 1, 1919. He was married Sept. 20, 1916 to Nellie Caverley. She died and he married again Sept. 4, l9h3 to Maysel (Whiteman) Anderson. He took over the operation of his father's farm (Lot 12 Con. 7 Thurlow) Jan. 1, 1919. He was secretary of Zion Cheese Mfg. Go. from 1935 â€" 19AO and was President for 3 years. He was 5 years a director of the Foxboro District Coâ€"op and President for 1 year. He was the first Chairman of the South Hastings High School Board a position he held for 3 years - 1949 - 51. He was 3 years a member of the Bay °f QUinte High School District Board and Chairman for the year 1955. In politics he is a ”life long liberal”.
