As has been stated elsewhere this community has been known as Phillipston and Zion. The following information was submitted by Mrs. Arthur Casey:- Years ago Thurlow boasted a community within its confines known as "Snow Village". The village is described in an interesting old CanadaDirectory issued in the year 1857 giving cities, towns and villages of Canada with population. Although probably long forgotten by the residents of this section Snow Village was listed in the directory as a small community. It had a population of about 100. Among those listed as residents were Samuel J.P. Casey, Post â€" master and Store keeper. D. Ham - Councillor; George Phillips, Justice of Peace; John Phillips and Rev. William.Sills. J. P. and School Superintendant. The name of the village was later changed to Phillipston by which it is known at the present time. Population at this time was about 100 and the mail was triaweekly. Some of these names are still in the community. We shall give a little in- formation about those Who have resiied here the greatest length of time: Casey- William (Arthur Casey's grandfather) farmer and stock raiser, whose father came to Canada in 1766, - lived on the south.side of road where drive-house now stands - originally Irish. Concession 8, Lot 13. Ketcheson- Mr. Willett Ketcheson's fathery John V. Ketcheson, settled in this community on Lot 1h Concession 8 coming from.the vicinity of Wallbridge. They had first settled in the County in 1832. .AB.
