Sunshine Women's Institute Tweedsmuir History Book 5 searchable pdfa History of the Community The township of South Plantagenet passed a by-law to name the township roads so that they might have house numbers and full addresses. This was done in two stages. About 1989 township roads were named and signs placed at the corners along Concession roads. Whenever possible they used historic family names, already referred to and familiar to the area. The purpose for naming the township roads and establishing lot numbers for each resident is to enable vital services such as police, fire and ambulance to locate anyone in the district.
