Glasgow Women's Institute Book 3 THL BLACKSFITH SHOP GLA§GOW STATION After the Railway was built through Glasgow in 1894, George McLean from Stewartville had a blacksmith shop and a residence built at the entrance to the Centennial Farm of w.H. Hamilton on the 8th line. He got plenty of work to do, shoeing horses and doing other jobs for the community. This building was also used for other purposes. The upstairs was fitted to hold Sunday Church services and meetings and entertainments. After some years, during which other blacksmiths occupied this shop, it was finally sold to the late Alex Stewart, then torn down in , and nothing remains to mark what was once one of the busiest spots in the community.
