Alexander Brown was Treasurer and George Brown was clerk. Jas. German and W, S. Thompson were auditors, each receiving a salary of 1 pound each. Now, the township, instead of being divided into wards, it is divided into polling divisions. In the year 1860 there was set up a Statute Labour system with a Ovrrseers appointed by Council to suprrvise the work on roads, were 32 in all to be called Pathmasters in charge of the improv on roads. Ward No. 3 was in the township hall, same as now, with David Graham as Returning Officer. Ward No. h was in the home of Pat German (now owned by Pat Sheahan) with Chas. Moore as Returning Officer. ward No. 5 was in the school house at Shamrock (same as now) with Pat Gorman as Returning Officer. 'In December 1860 tenders were called for to fence th Hall grounds with a Cedar Rail fence. A new stove and lock and key for the hall WPPE purchased. In the good old days the last item of business in the council meeting was to pass an order for the Treasurer to pay Miss Sally Mcbouga l for meals of Victuals served to the counci1--7 shillings and o pense. In the mnncipal elections all candidated ran as Councillors. Then at'the first meeting of the newrsouncil the reeve was the chosen by council.
