fi- _ . the (treat Canadian Scarecrow (onteit By Jeanne Lambert he Bishop‘s Mills Women's Institute had great success last year in sponsor- ing a Scarecrow Contest. The idea came from one of the members who read of a similar contest in a small town in the US. Throughout the summer months. the event was organized locally. The contest not only increased the awareness of the Women’s Institute, it stimulated community pride and involvement. Local businesses. organi- zations and residents donated the prizes. so every entrant received something. and our Branch made a few dollars from the nomi- nal entry fee. Because we have already done the ‘leg~ wOrk.' in terms of developing the posters, entry forms and newspaper press releases (etc.). our members are making this infor~ mation available to other Branches interested in hosting their own Contest. While it would have to be modified to suit your needs. why ‘re«invent the wheel”? Send for your information kit today.
