The Leadership Development Committee of Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario (FWIO) are pleased to announce a conference to be held May 13 to 15. 1988 at Queen's University, Kingston. When the sustained resolution reaches the provincial board, it is reviewed by the resolutions committee and the supportive material checked. It is then discussed by the board as a whole. It is your responsibility to make sure that your board director(s) are will-informed on the resolution. It is the board director’s responâ€" sibility to take note of the discus- sions, so that she can speak to the resolution at the board meeting. The provincial convener then sends on the sustained resolution to the correct places accompanied by a letter which incorporates the supportive material which you pro- vided. That is why the material must be current and correct. The resolu- tions which are not sustained are eturned with an explanation. It seems like a slow process but 5 we have no provincial convention t which resolutions can be discussed, t is a democratic process in which few people. The amount and diversity of the olutions indicate the awareness of e members of problems facing The conference has several goals. 1. To stimulate interest in identifying local community projects. 2. To motivate and develop leaderâ€" ship in the areas of program plan- ning and promotional activities. 3. To provide direction in program planning. 4. To educate the members re: the issue of waste management/ recycling. society. If we don't let it be known that we disagree with something, we will have no chance to change it. The explanations above were prompted by questions asked me at the area conventions. At this time I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for the warm recep» tions accorded me at these conven- tions. It was truly a wonderful and educating experience to attend them for my first time. Just to remind you that this winter each branch was sent two mailings â€" one in December ’87 and one in January ’88. Make sure each officer who was sent informa- tion receives it. If the wrong person gets it, then the new names and addresses have not been forwarded to the office.
