THE MINISTER'S LllNCHl-ZON The Honourable Dennis Timbrell - d the Ministry of Agriculture and ood hosted a luncheon at the Bond Place Hotel for the FWIO Provin- cial Board with Mr. Ken Knox as chairman. Mr. Timbrell in his ad- dress stressed the need to “Test all things and keep that which is good". He spoke of the changes in agriculture needed to improve pro- duction not only for Ontario but for export as well. Mr. Timbreli discuss, ed the formation of the new branch as well. Two purposes of the Rural Organizations and Services Branch are: l. to strengthen rural and urban relations 2. Education - a study is being done on the needs of rural women. The programs of the Ministry must be prepared to meet many of these needs. There is a need to update the school curriculum to reflect agriculture as it is today and new guidelines are being prepared. With 1984 being Ontario's Bi- Centennial, the Minister asked for the coâ€"operation of the Women‘s Institutes in the plans for this Celebration. PRESIDENT'S REPORT Mn. K. Hlepleh Highlights of the President's ac- Meeting Women’s Institutes of Ontario ' Provincial Board of Directors John Brown, Public Relations Officer tit-ities this past year were her atten- dance at special anniiersarics in- cluding the 85th in Toronto. and entertaining Mrs. Ziny \\'estebring- Muller. Mrs. Hiepleh attended the 85th Anniversary Exhibition in Ottawa City Hall and the National Convention in New Brunswick. At all times Mrs. Hiepleh represents the Women's Institutes of Ontario and speaks on behalf of the Members. The Presrdent attends the H Area Conventions, all Committee meetings. and the Board Meetings which attords her the opportunity to meet and mark with the members. Mrs. Hiepleh attended the Open Day and Council Meeting ot’ ACWW in London, England. She Is pleased to report thcrc are No new Branches this year. The highlight was the 35th anniversary celebration which in volved many letters. Mrs. VanStckle attended many special event\. helped at the Lee and at the Ul- ficers' Conference, and attended all of the Committee meetings.
