HOODLESS HOMESTEAD Women's Institute members gathered on the lawn last June for the formal opening of the new addition. This addi- tion moved from dream to reality during the presidenliu] term of Mrs Martha Bielish. The visitors enjoyed a tour of the Homestead and were happy to see the new addition now occupied by the hostess. It was equally enjoyable to browse around the grounds where the refreshments were served. The Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead. R.R.l St. George was purchased by the Federated Women‘s Institutes of Canada in 1959. The new addition provides living quarters for the hostess, Mrs. Hilda Butler. along time W 1 member and life member ur the Port Dover Branch. Norfolk South District. The living quarters allowed the Committee much more space in the Homestead museum “to Show oftm the artifacts. Former private living quarters have become the kitchen and pantry and now contain the memorabilia once displayed in the basement. Upstairs there islone more room available and the antiques. instead ofbeing crowded into three rooms are nicely displayed in four. The Homestead is open daily From 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm {or the public and by special appointment for branch meet- ing or visits. The Homestead, the birthplace of Adelaide Hunter Hoodless. is a fitting tribute to a woman with u great vision who was responsible for the founding of so many women’s organizations during the turn oftlie century.
