The Girls Said The whole amasphere of Girls' Conference was filled with enthusiasm and anticipation and we loved every minute of it. Guest speak- ers, interest groups and lively discussion groups led up to the highlight of the confer- ence, which was the formal banquet on the fi- nal evening. Our only regret is that we weren‘t allowed more time to chat with the girls who represented nearly every county in Ontario. We could have learned so much by talking with them. Linda Connors Nancy Barton Prescott County 10 The 1972 Girls‘ Conference held on the Uni. versity of Guelph campus was, for me, a high. light of my 4-H career. Many of the ideas put forth concerning the changing role of women in society todm opened new avenues of thought. For some came a new realization of the female position and others continued in their patterns of con. ditioned and backward thinking. The program arranged for us followed a hectic timetable and many of the fascinating speakers were lost in a melee of juice alltl cookies, announcements concerning the don‘t. after hours, and several dozen introductiom daily plus guided tours. Contact with girls from all across the Prov ince was a stimulating and enjoyable expert. ence and many of us are coming away wilti pleasant memories of our four days in Guelph Linda Lee Lindsa' Carletox I think it is a worthwhile experience for an‘ 4-H member to take the trip if it comes tr them. I really enjoyed it, mostly I liked the tour of the campus and the first evening that w. were all here. The fashion show was really worth watch ing and I think everyone enjoyed the min iature carillon. I enjoyed the Crafts interest group when we made “Origami” â€" the art of paper fold ing. We were shown how to make a flapping bird, penguins, fish, elephant, and the crab. The thing I enjoyed most was meeting witl't all the girls and having fun as Well as learning about different things. The talk about “Fflmllf Life in Ghana" by Dr. Margaret McCread} was really interesting because I have alwayx wondered how the negroes lived and if they like it there. Sandra Gidding‘ Muskokr: I have found this conference a very memo» rable occasion. I have met many new friends here and I have enjoyed the Crafts interesv group that I was in. The tours were interesting and educational because We learned a 101 about the university. I enjoyed most of th: talks and the entertainment was interesting. l recommend this conference to anyone \th has the chance to go because it is educational It was a lot of fun too. I’ve enjoyed this con- ference very much and would go to another one if given the chance. Judy CaplinE Waterloo County Continued page 13 HOME AND COUNTRY
