Right â€" Mrs. John Craig with the group for Presidents. Mrs. Fulton conl’d. The following story from the writings of Reverend Elmer Roper was quoted by the speaker. In the land of Palestine there are two seas. In one, fish swim as they did 2,000 years ago. Trees grow on its banks and stretch out their roots to sip the freshness of its water. Men build their homes on its banks and birds their nests. Every kind of life is happier because the sea is there. In the other sea there is no splash of fish. No man or beast or vegetation can drink from its water. Travellers avoid it except on urgent business. No birds dip their pinions in its wa- ter. What is the difference between these two seas? Not the river Jordan. It empties its good fresh water into both. But in one of the sea of Galilee the river flows again. Galilee passes on as much as it receives. Galilee gives H and lives. The other sea is shrewder. it hoards all it gets. it yields to no generous impulse. It gives up nothing of itself, it is called the Dead Sea. Let us all be like the Sea of Galilee. let us give up to this democracy as much as we reâ€" eeive at least and maybe more. and become GOOD CITIZENS and not DEAD CITIZENS like the Dead Sea. 22 Mrs, E. All night the small feet of the rain Within my garden ran, And gentle fingers tapped the pane Until the dawn began. . Dora 519 i ‘k * HOME AND corn-.1 {HY
