Consumers‘ Committee of the Ontario Food Council Mrs. N. Morrison. representing Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario on the Consumâ€" er's Committee of the Ontario Food Council, reported on the “Peas Are Plentiful†promo- tion over the past two months to move 13.5 million pounds of frozen peas and 1.6 million cases of canned peas. Studies included sessions on “Understanding the Grocery Business", “The Consumer in the Supermarket". “Consumer Protection" and "Meats at the Retail Level". In the session on meats the committee learned about eleven grades of beef. etc.. and through demonstraâ€" tions on hamburger it was disclosed that hamâ€" burger can have 30% fat in it but if the word “lean†is added it must not have more than 1502'. Board Directors Reporting Following the Annual Board Meeting of the Federated Women‘s Institutes of Ontario the Board Directors. representing the thirty-two subdivisions of Ontario. hold meetings with their District Officers and any Area Officers residing therein to acquaint them with the business of the Previncial Board. This year one Board Director per Area gave a report of these meetings to the Semi Annual Board Meeting i 14 reports instead of 32). In some areas. geographical and climatic conditions prevented meetings being held but informative letters were then mailed to district executives and branches thus reaching more people.
