Members of Woolwich Ever Faithful Institute dressed for a skit depicting a Women's Institute meeting of siny years ago. The skit was pre- sented at a brunch meeting commemorating the Institute's 65th anniversary and later at the District Annual. the appearance of the rooms on the first and second floors. This is one of our major im- provements for this year. We also invested in some second-hand cases from a city drug store, and as these have glass shelves and are elec- trically lighted they will be a great asset to the museum. Besides the great increase in the number of visitors, we also had an increase of donations. The British Mortgage and Trust gave us eight dress forms which had been used for forty years by White and May Co. to display ladies” dresses. They will now be used by the museum to display ottr old-time costumes and even some trousseau dresses. We now have in our possession five silver trophies, won at different times (since I913) by St. Mary’s Collegiate boys. These trophies require a good deal of elbow grease to keep them bright and shining and we do this work ourselves. Mrs. John Legg gave us a lovely hand-made mahogany sofa, upholstered in blue silk, for our oldâ€"fashioned parlour. As a museum for St. Mary‘s was the import- ant project of the Women‘s Institute in recent years, we can always count on their assistance. but we are also deeply indebted to the Home and School Club, the McConnell Club, the I.O.D.E. and the Women's Catholic League for their assistance. It is really a community affair. International Program Features A.C.W.W. By Mrs. G. Sawyer ILFORD WOMEN'S INSTITUTE held G its International meeting in February, with the members of the executive planning the program around A.C.W.W.. its SUMMER 1963 interests and work and the recent conferencc in Australia. The roll call was answered by each mcmbcr pinning u flag on an A.C.W.W. country on a map of the world and telling some interesting facts about the country, The motto tor the meeting was. “Human beings are tied together by ideas and feelings, not by geography." Papers were given by mcmbcrs of the executive on: “The Organization and History of A.C.W.W.". “Pennies t‘or Friendship". “The Lady Aberdccn Scholarship". and "United Na- tions." With the aid of an outline map of Australia the secretary told of the projccts carried on by the Women's tnstitutcs or (‘ounâ€" try Women's Association of each province. There were comments on the topics discussed at the Triennial Conference in Australia and the members joined in singing “The Hymn of All Nations." Four members dcmonstralcd a New anland game played with sticks â€"- throwing, passing, tapping and flipping the sticks to an accompaâ€" niment of music. The members had put a great deal of practice into playing this gumc and it was very entertaining. Another International Day By Mrs. S. Australia, India and Ireland and gave brief tall-ts on customs of these countries. emphasizing especially the part the women play.
