Historical Research and Current Events: The convener, Mrs. Sanford Aikins said that 733 Tweedsmuir History Books had been reported and a great deal of work on local history had been enjoyed in the branches. Increased in- terest was shown in current events both local and international and many branches are filing these for future use. Mrs. Aikins said “One by one, the older folk with knowledge of valuable local history are passing on; ancient landmarks are disappearing; historical sites are being forgotten. 'There is no time but now.’ Let us all be busy recording our pioneer history and preserving for posterity these ancient landmarks." Community Activities and Public Relations: The convener, Miss Ina Hodgins said that the reports had been most inspiring, covering every line of activity. which might be menâ€" tioned. Cheer at home and abroad had the usual part in all reports, as they have a permanent part in all Women‘s Institute Act1v1t1es. “If it were possible,†Miss Hodgins said, “to place a money value on the service of kindliness and friendliness we would find that the figures would be stupendous.
