Challond reported an overall total of $40,653 raised and expended during the year from May 1, 1945 to April 30, 1946. She also re- ported on the winding-up of the Central War Charities Fund; the balance of $2,124.80 being divided among the veterans’ hospitals to provide extra comforts. Women's Institutes have gone a long way in the field of publicity, Mrs. N. J. White reported. W.I. radio broadcasts have become very popular while publicity in our daily, weekly and farm papers still im- proves as our women learn the proper method of reporting. Special tribute was paid to the co-operation our Women‘s Institutes receive from the press. W.I. seals, fall fairs, our poster contest, W. I. tourist cabins and rest rooms, boats, and goodmll visits all provide publicity. Every publicity report stressed the point that each Institute member is the best publicity our Women’s Institutes can have. Are you giving the right publicity to your Institute? Mrs. Wilmer Keyes in her Home Economics report recommended that the study of Family Relationships might take a major place in Home Economics work this year. C - Tlca , nrtlaml, In Convener of limoncni R min-ch; Mrs, THE PROVINCIAL BOARD 1946-47 I DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE ENTERTAINS BOARD New Committees Formed The Ontario Women’s Institute Scholarship Committee was appointed to look after the Anniversary Scholar- ship, this committee to be composed of three Board Directors the Provin- cial President and the Director of the W.I. Branch. One of the three named from the Board will retire each year. Mrs. McEwen, Mrs. Ralph and Mrs. Shaver will act on the committee with Mrs. Sumnicrs and Miss Lewis. Miss Dorothy Lindsley, Director of Macrlonald Institute, and Miss Florence Eadie, Supervisor of Junior Extension will be invited to sit in on this committee in an advisory capacity. Mrs. Hugh Summers and Mrs. O. W. Rolpli were named to meet with two members of the Home and School Association to discuss co» operative policy. Mrs. McClure and Mrs. Shaver were named to act with Miss Lewis to investigate a trophy for the Junior competition. Method of Electing Provincial President It was decided at the April meeting that Nomination Committee composed of the Honorary President and two first year Board Directors be named to receive nominations for Provincial President. , Nominations, accompanied by quali- fications and credentials must be sent to the convener of this committee not later than October lst. Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. James and Mrs. Goodfellow were named as the Nominations Com< mittee. Thus we record a bird’s eye view of the year's activities. The agenda was particularly heavy in this _our anniversary year. Mrs. Daniels. speaking on behalf of the retiring members expressed the feeling of the directors as she said: “Today is the last time some of us will be present at a Provincial Board meeting. To Mrs Summers. Miss Lewis and Mrs. McCullocb I feel we owe much in the success of our ses- sions. Their kind and courteous manner has been an example to us. I have found much joy in the work and the friendships made while in your midst. I fch sure the members will con- tinue to «co-operate with the officers to circle harmony in our beloved organization. May we all help to design the struc- ture of tomorrow with strong corner stones of purpose, prepare great blocks of wisdom cut from past mis~ takes, and shape mighty pillars of resolve. If we do this with belief in God and our own solves all we hoped for will be achieved."
